HarvesT Pantry

The Harvest Pantry is our client-choice shopping program. Instead of receiving pre-packed hampers, clients can shop for their own groceries in a market-style setting, allowing them to select food that best suits their needs and preferences. Open by appointment, our pantry offers both staple items and surplus goods, and also supports home delivery for those with mobility challenges. This approach promotes dignity, reduces food waste, and helps ensure better nutritional outcomes for individuals and families in the community.

REGISTER

If this is your first visit you will be required to provide:

  • One piece of valid government-issued photo ID for each person that lives in your household (including children). We no longer accept Health Cards as ID.
  • A recent utility bill (paper or digital) that has the date, name, and address of one adult living in the house.
  • Documents for your first eligibility review as listed here: https://mjfoodbank.org/eligibility-reviews/

All information collected will be kept confidential

Client choice shopping

Once you’re registered, you can book appointments to shop at the Harvest Pantry. Unlike the hamper model, our pantry allows you to choose the items that best meet your needs.

Shelves are color-coded based on family size, with clear labels indicating how many items you can select from each section. This system helps ensure fairness and that everyone receives the support they need.

Please remember that food bank services are intended for emergency use only. We kindly ask that you take only what you need so we can continue supporting as many individuals and families as possible.

For more information about booking or to view answers to common questions, please visit our Booking page and scroll down to the Frequently asked questions.

Surplus Program

Guests are welcome to visit the Surplus Table in the lobby once per day during our hours of operation. Items are placed on the front counter, and the number you can take will vary depending on availability.

Please note that the food available on the surplus table may be past its best-before date or include dented cans. While still safe to consume, we encourage you to use your discretion when selecting these items.

No account or appointment is needed to access the surplus table—feel free to stop by during our operating hours!
